In the last decade, there has been a worldwide rise of opposition to gender progressive politics as well as women’s and LGBTIQA+ rights. Several countries in Europe witnessed protests against same-sex marriage, gender studies and the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The increased emergence of such political decisions and ultraconservative rhetoric in different places all around the world is not a coincidence.
